Anybody still having doubts whether there is speculation involved ? Actually, this is one of the dirtiest, most blatant such games we have seen. Exactly as predicted, spreads did not fall, as they didn’t after any of the austerity packages, or after any EU “support” pledge. Because - other than a portion corresponding to those for, say, Ireland - they have nothing to do with the real economic facts.
Of course, excuses can always be found why they won’t decrease, no matter what is done. The saddest thing is certain media playing along with such garbage.
It is quite simple: Greece is alone in this, and has to fight it by itself. It is enough that it pays for its problems, the price has to be doubled, so that speculators can make billions (and the Euro be where it has to be). It has been clearly realized, and there are no more illusions. I hope Greeks will see how much all those deals (that included miltary orders worth billions $ to French and German “friends”) really helped them…
